so i finally took the plunge and built myself a new computer

CPU: Amd Phenom II 940 quadcore 3.0ghz overclocked to 3.8ghz
CPU COOLER: Xigmatek S1283 Dark Knight
RAM: 8gigs Gskill DDR2 800
HDD: 1 terabyte Samsung F1 spinpoint sata hdd and 1 500gb western digital hdd for storage
Optical Drives: 2 LG dual layer sata dvd burners
GPU: ATi 4870X2
PSU: PC power and Cooling silencer 750 quad crossfire edition
CASE: coolermaster haf 932
OS: Vista 64bit / Xp 32bit / Ubuntu Linux 64bit

very happy with the machine 4 times the performance in mudbox then with my previous machine and maya is much more responsive with the 6 gigs more ram and quadcore. Very happy with my purchase and at $1400 total cost it was a steal to build

overall Intel might be faster but with the massive and extremely easy overclock this machine exceeded all my expectations.

seems now i have to get back to work doing 3d again and do some serious sculpting to put this machine through its paces and see what its upper limit is anyway figured id update everyone on whats been going on. long story short i built a beast of a machine and ive been extremely how should we say attached to gaming on it for the most part as of late but its time for work once again.
